Tad Savinar
Tad is a Portland artist with a national reputation. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art in 1973 from Colorado College in Colorado Springs. As he has stated in the past, he is an artist who has chosen ideas as his media. Using cast bronze, etched glass, prints or paintings, the written word has remained a constant in his work for over 30 years. He has received several National Endowment for the Arts Individual Fellowships, and is included in the collections of the Portland Art Museum, Smithsonian Institute National Archives, and Museum of Modern Art in New York, among others. In addition, Tad has served on scores of design teams across the country and has written five original stage plays. A sixth was a collaborative project which played Off-Broadway in 1987, Broadway in 2007 and was developed into a feature film.
