RACC Headlines for August 07, 2008

RACC has awarded a total of $1,500,653 to 43 arts organizations in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties. These General Support Grants provide unrestricted operating revenue to arts organizations in the Portland metropolitan area that demonstrated fiscal responsibility, artistic excellence, and community service through a competitive grant application process.

Work for Art, an umbrella fund that raises money and awareness for arts and culture, raised $559,741 in the 2007-08 campaign that ended June 30 – surpassing its goal of $525,000 and besting last year’s total by more than 25%. A full 100% of these proceeds will be distributed to more than 75 local arts and culture organizations in Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington Counties through RACC’s competitive General Support and Project Grants.

Invitation to Filmmakers. RACC invites filmmakers currently living in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington Counties to submit original short videos for a new pilot project, Portland Art Happens- videos that portray Portland’s vibrant art scenes.

Professional Development Grants (Cycle 2) assist artists or arts administrators with artistic or business management development skills.
|
|
RACC provides a listing of summer camps in the region that offer a variety of artistic disciplines. Register soon as these camps fill up fast.

Through Labor Day, RACC will be open from 8am to 5:30pm, Monday through Thursday. On Fridays we will be open from 8am to noon.

The RACC Artists Spotlight honors and supports individual artists from throughout the tri-county Portland area. At left, Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya, Newar priest, dancer, choreographer, educator, director, and meditation teacher.

Museum of Contemporary Craft: The Ceramics of Gertrud and Otto Natzler
through 1/25/09 This exhibition celebrates the Natzlers’ richly textured, colorful work (1935-1971) and pays tribute to the lives of two important leaders in the history of modern ceramics. Museum of Contemporary Craft receives General Support funding from RACC.
