Issued 11/15/11.

Background: Over the last 30 years, Multnomah County and the City of Portland have built an impressive collection of artworks that are administered and managed by the Regional Art & Culture Council (RACC). More than 1,000 pieces, representing hundreds of Northwest artists, are regularly rotated throughout publicly accessible spaces in County and City buildings. This highly regarded collection strives to reflect a diversity of populations, artistic disciplines and points of view. RACC periodically purchases new work for this collection and is currently seeking submissions from professional artists living in Oregon who are not already represented in the Portable Works Collection.

Selection Process: The artwork (painting, drawing, photographs, prints and wall mounted sculpture of limited depth are eligible), will be selected by an independent panel of artists, curators and Multnomah County representatives. The selection panel will make its initial selections from digital images; final selections will be made from actual artwork. An important focus of this call for submissions will be to expand the breadth and depth of the collection to more fully express the cultural diversity of our community; RACC is committed to engaging new communities of artists and expanding the range of artistic and cultural expression represented in the Portable Works Collection. Project orientation sessions will be made available for interested artists, contact klachowicz@racc.org to reserve a spot.

Deadline for submissions: The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 16th, 2011.
