4 teaching positions at PHAME Academy open

PHAME Academy - the region's leading nonprofit arts organization for adults with developmental disabilities – must fill the following part-time teaching positions for the Academy's fall term September 7 through November 17, 2010, with the possibility to continue through the winter and spring terms:

1) Technical Theatre (Costume and/or set design. Also open to proposals for other areas of tech theatre)

2) Theatre Arts (Generally a performance-geared class. We are open to proposals for anything from improv to musical theatre to...?)

3) Visual Arts (Open to all genres and styles, from painting to drawing to sculpting to...?)

4) Creative Writing (Working with students either one-on-one or in a group setting)

Some information on the class schedule:
Theatre classes are Mondays and Wednesdays.
Tech theatre: 2 to 3 pm
Theatre performance: 3:30 to 5:30 pm
Visual Arts and Creative Writing are on Tuesdays, 3:30 – 5:30 pm

About PHAME:
PHAME - which stands for Pacific Handicapped Artists, Musicians and Entertainers - has a 26 year history of providing exceptional arts programming and education in theatre, music, dance, writing and the visual arts for developmentally disabled adults. All classes are held at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 1535 NE 17th Avenue, off NE 17th and Weidler.

About our faculty:
We are seeking passionate, gritty, adventurous teachers to join our Academy faculty for the fall term. Our eye is on finding dynamic teachers (or performer/artist-teachers) interested in bringing their passions into the classroom and exploring them with PHAME students. Prior teaching experience (at any level) and professional-level theatre design or performance experience is a must; experience working with developmentally disabled persons a plus. The pay is $12 per hour. This is a truly amazing, inspired groups of folks to work with!
