Dance & Music Interplay | Tere Mathern & Tim DuRoche

They will share some of the ways they've collaborated, and together discover new ways through set phrase work, improvisation, investigation of thematic material, scores, and live interface between musicians and dancers. They will start with a guided simple movement warm-up for all participants: movers and musicians, followed by individual and group work, phrase learning, discussion and process refinement.

Musicians should be prepared to move and take into consideration the primacy of the body as both a choreographic/compositional tool (voice, body percussion), breaking eventually into smaller collaborative groups. Musician/composers should bring primary simple sound or compositional tools/ instruments (mac, wind/string/percussion, etc.). If you bring an instrument, please consider that creative space will be limited, and avoid excessive technical set-ups and high-volume amplification.

1:00 - 4:00 pm. $28/drop-in class $80/workshop. To register: Call 503-221-5857 or email: info@conduit-pdx.org.
