Seeking a new life in America, Augustín Obrero, a musician, and his sister Monica, struggle between living with their family traditions and searching for new lives of their own; Mimi, a drag performer, yearns to find true love, regardless of her gender identity; and the homeless Cruz, a mere shadow of a woman she once was, searches for a way off the streets. To realize their dreams, they each must decide, “What am I willing to sacrifice in order to make my American Dream a reality?” A Teatro Milagro original bilingual production Created by Rebecca Martínez and Dañel Malán with music by Joaquín López. Jan 23, 2pm  A free, bilingual health fair following the matinee, presented by the Latino Sexual Health Coalition comprised of Teatro Milagro, Multnomah County HIV/HepC Community Programs and Cascade AIDS Project, will provide visitors with Spanish-language health resources. The fair will also feature free blood pressure checks, massages, referrals, HIV tests, bilingual health screenings and other wellness activities and health-related gifts from representatives of Spinal Care Plus, An Sen Clinic, OHSU Latino Medical Student Association and others.

This project is a proud participant in Fertile Ground, Portland’s citywide festival of new work taking place January 22 to February 1, 2010.

Performances run through January 23, 2010 at Milagro Theatre, 525 SE Stark St, Portland.
