Dance Teaching Artist sought by the Oregon Ballet

Oregon Ballet Theatre’s Education Outreach department is seeking enthusiastic teaching artists to provide dance training and dance arts integration during the school day or after-school at K-8 schools in Portland metro area.

OBT’s Ed/Out curriculum focuses on progressive approaches to ballet, creative movement, and arts integration at workshops, short or long term residencies, and at pre-performance presentations at various schools throughout the school year. Other forms of dance may be integrated based on the teaching artist’s expertise. The amount of hours per week will vary throughout the school year. OBT is an arts provider for Right Brain Initiative and listed with Young Audiences. OBT provides training for all programming.

Qualified Candidates will have the following:

•B.A. in Dance or related field; or equivalent professional dance experience
•Proficiency in classical ballet technique
•Experience working with diverse populations of children in a school setting.
•Knowledge of child development and Special Education is a plus
•Commitment to dance education and arts integration practices
•Friendly, patient, professional demeanor
•Reliable access to a car
