Director of Private Music Instruction

Reed College is seeking a Director of Private Music Instruction. This position is flexibly scheduled over 12 months at .75 FTE. This position reports to the Chair of the Music Department and the Dean of Faculty.
The Director is responsible for the following:
• Oversees the selection, contact writing and evaluation of private music teachers for students who take private music lessons through the college.
• Administers music scholarships.
• Registers, advises and assigns students to teachers.
• Organizes concerts each semester.
• Oversees a $700,000 inventory and instrument maintenance to include 25 pianos.
• Oversees the teaching facility and assists in the recommendation of refurbishing improvements and repairs to the building.
• Coordinates the use of teaching studios in the building.
• Develops and monitors the private instruction budget.
• Maintains regular office hours.
• Attends departmental, divisional and faculty meetings as needed.
