TILT Export: Portfolio Review. TILT Export is an independent art initiative with no fixed location, working in partnership with a variety of venues for its exhibitions. Founded by Jenene Nagy and Josh Smith, former curators of Tilt Gallery and Project Space, TILT Export serves as a catalyst for opportunity, awareness, and the challenging of ideas through art making. Call for Short Fiction. Woodstock, Portland's annual festival of books, is now taking entries for this year's Short Fiction Competition. The winner of the competition will receive $1,000 and publication in the Oct 2009 issue of Portland Monthly. Call for Entries for 2010 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival (2/12-21/10). The festival will screen 100 films, including world and U.S. premieres, classics, rare and experimental works on Montana's largest screen at the historic Wilma Theater in downtown Missoula, Montana. In addition to ten days of screenings, the event will feature many public and VIP events including panel discussions, galas, receptions and networking round-tables. The competitive event is open to non-fiction films and videos of all genres, subject matter, lengths and production dates. Call for Entries for Art & Labor & The Labor of Art (7/13-8/30). The arts document, support, and share a common history with labor movements and labor issues. If history is an indicator of the future, then we are currently experiencing the same fertile ground for artistic expression, collaboration, and expansion as witnessed during the 1930s. How are the arts again uniting, inspiring, and moving us forward? How is your art reflecting the current climate of job loss, tough times, social change, and potential for reinvention? Works that address issues of labor, making ends meet, effects on family and society, and the arts as a tool for cultural expansion, will be represented in this timely exhibit. Regional Call for Entries for Crossing the Blues Exhibition (8/21-22). The exhibition opens in conjunction with the annual Crossing the Blues Festival held each summer in scenic La Grande, Oregon. Call for Artists for ErosFest NW (9/6-9). Portland, Oregon's First Annual Erotic Arts Festival, hosted by The Jupiter Hotel. The Juried Exhibition is curated as a traditional gallery presentation located in The Pearl, downtown. The Silent Auction is curated as an Installation on the Festival Grounds at The Jupiter Hotel. Artists may consent to the option of submitting their pieces to be accepted by both exhibits. Call for Entries for Hundred Valleys Competition 2009 presented by Umpqua Valley Arts Association (8/28-10/30). Artists living in Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho and California are invited to submit up to (3) entries in any media. No theme and any Media. All work must be display-ready upon arrival. Call for Photography. PX3's photography competition, Aftermath, is a depiction of the consequence of an event. Our lives can be traced, to a series of aftermaths, the results of a cause and effect, that defines who we are, and what our lives are made of; images that portray these single moments, Px3 aims to capture. It is the desire of Px3 to bring together on a global scale, in a common voice, these distinct ideas of Aftermath, as seen from the perspective of the photographic lens. Call for Submissions for Creative Nonfiction Issue of The Bear Deluxe Magazine #30. (Fall-Winter 2009-10). In fall 2009, Orlo intends to publish a special “creative nonfiction” issue of The Bear Deluxe Magazine. It is anticipated that under the umbrella of “creative nonfiction” the magazine will publish landscape-informed travel stories, personal narratives with strong elements of research and reporting, at least one author interview with a noted creative nonfiction writer, short prose, found writing, and book reviews. A “call and response” feature will be included, offering publishing opportunities to a diverse set of writers throughout the country. Call for Art for Studio Visit, a nationally focused publication that presents all two- and three-dimensional work. Each volume includes approx. 150 artists. Each selected artist will be provided with one full page that will include a full color image, contact information and a brief artist statement. The publication is juried by a professional curator and produced to the highest quality standards and can be used as a valuable promotional tool. Once published, Studio Visit is mailed to 2,000 of the nation's top galleries and curators and a growing subscriber base. Seeking Exhibition Proposals for 2010. Glenn & Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center is currently seeking submissions from individual artists and proposals from groups of artists working in all media, to exhibit in the Center’s galleries for the 2010 calendar year. Typically the Center hosts groups of professional and emerging professional artists for four to six weeks per exhibition in the main gallery. Call to Artists, Architects, Landscape Architects, Engineers, inventors and designers of all types for the aLIVe: a Low Impact Vehicle exhibition (8/22). This exhibition seeks existing prototypes or self-funded Low Impact Vehicle (LIV) projects for a one-day, outdoor exhibition at Seward Park in Seattle. Anyone can exhibit. Projects will not be reviewed in advance of the exhibition date, but the organizers request that Participants carefully adhere to the project goals and guidelines described at http://www.greatcity.org/campaigns/streets-for-people/alive-a-low-impact-vehicle-exhibit. Media sought: Functional mechanical prototypes, design drawings, or digital renderings of low-impact vehicles. Call for Entries for Expressions Northwest, the Eleventh Annual Art Port Townsend Juried Art Competition (10/2-11/1) sponsored by the Port Townsend Arts Commission and Northwind Arts Alliance. Artists must be at least 16 years of age and a resident of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, or British Columbia. Call for Entries to the Aesthetica Annual Creative Works Competition 2009. The 2008 Competition was a successful springboard for artists’ careers around the globe. The winners and finalists from last year, went on to secure further exhibitions, commissions (including Channel 4’s Three Minute Wonder), and publications. Call for Artists for the 16th Annual North Clackamas Arts Guild Show (10/2-4). Call for Artist Proposals for the Emerson Art Observatory: a year-long window gallery. Emerson Art Observatory is a dedicated art space in the Alberta Arts District in Portland, Oregon. The gallery is composed of all 6 ground-floor windows of a residential apartment building, as well as a continuous line of clerestory windows above the first floor. Artist proposals are now being accepted for month-long shows at the Emerson Art Observatory. The gallery will be programming shows for one year.
