Muse Art and Design and Schoolhouse Supplies have teamed up for the second year in a row with An Artist a Day, a live art fundraising event starting April 1, and continuing for 30 consecutive days. An Artist a Day offers artists the chance to create in a highly trafficked storefront on Hawthorne Blvd., while also earning a portion of the auctioned sale of their artwork. Artists will be profiled on www.AnArtistADay.com, along with artwork images and blog entries each day of the event. Works will be exhibited in Muse Art and Design while contributing to this great cause, which raised more than $3,000 in art supplies going to Portland classrooms last year.
Thirty artists will be chosen to each create a piece of art to be auctioned. Artists receive fifty percent of the sale for their artwork, and Muse Art and Design will then use the remaining funds to purchase art supplies at wholesale cost to donate to Schoolhouse Supplies, a free store where public school teachers can obtain classroom materials at no cost. The event culminates in a reception on the evening of May 13, where artists and the public are invited to celebrate.
