Murals of Portland's objective is to provide a common ground for dialogue between murals, mural artists and their patrons. They are working to create a comprehensive mural map of the Portland area highlighting the public treasures of local murals; included with this will be biographical and professional information on each artist, a mural artist list, photo gallery, and information on how to contact artists for mural-related projects.

History
Murals of Portland evolved from the organization Portland Mural Defense in a new partnership with Breeze Block Gallery. Since 2004, Portland Mural Defense, co-founded by Joanne Oleksiak, has presented public events and helped to advocate for and create murals. In August 2009, the City adopted a new and more accessible mural permit process largely due to the hard work of Portland Mural Defense. The organization has shifted gears from protecting mural rights to promoting murals and acting as a resource organization now call Murals of Portland. Breeze Block Gallery has been a mural proponent and consultant since it's opening in 2006.

This site was built by fine artist and web designer Robert Pellicer of Seed Design Group with special grant funding from the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
