The In Other Words Board of Directors is a group of dedicated volunteers who oversee the vision and mission of In Other Words Books and Resource Center, which is a project of the Women’s Community Education Project. Each member brings a different set of skills and experiences to the table

The Board is currently looking for board members who have experience in the following areas: major donor cultivation, coordinating fundraising and community- building events, overseeing personnel, and implementing board and staff policies and procedures. Though it is not required, experience in non-profit organizations, grass-roots fundraising, non-profit law and board or committee work is a plus. As a Board member, feminism is a must. (Please see our mission and values for more about what this means)

The Board of Directors meets monthly on a weekday evening, for 2-3 hours. Board members commit to 10-15 hours per month toward Board work. We strongly value the participation of people with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, genders, sexualities, abilities and feminist perspectives. If you would like more information about the Board of Directors, please contact Board Chair Lauren McCartney at lauren@inotherwords.org. In Other Words, 14 Killingsworth Street, Portland, OR 97211, 503.232.6003.
