The Corvallis-Benton County Public Library announces a Request for Qualifications to select an artist to create a mobile for the Library lobby.
The Library is located in downtown Corvallis and is heavily used, with about 2000 visitors daily. The original building was designed by Pietro Belluschi and was constructed in the early 1930’s. There are two subsequent additions, one in 1965 and another in 1992. The space where the mobile would hang is the apex of the 1992 addition.
Project Overview: The Library is in the midst of a multi-year rearranging project to improve efficiency and provide sufficient space for materials and library users. One of the goals of the rearrangement project is to make the lobby a welcoming and comfortable space. A mobile, to be hung from the apex of the second floor, would be a part of creating this welcoming environment.
Budget: $18,000. The budget includes all costs including materials, travel, insurance, fabrication, installation and artwork documentation.
