GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Video Editor works to produce a variety of video products for internal stakeholders. Working with raw camera footage, b-roll, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects, the Video Editor is involved in creating narrative, structure and tone to produce finished video that meets Mercy Corps promotional needs. The Video Editor is also charged with building and managing the video asset collection.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
This position is responsible for the creative development of video for use on the Mercy Corps website, and other applications. This includes:

• Project management of video projects for internal clients, in collaboration with supervisor and internal stakeholders
• Production of a variety of multimedia projects – frequently from concept through post-production – to meet fundraising and branding goals, including developing narrative, story relevance and continuity; editing voiceover/commentary; suggesting /selecting music
• Acquiring, organizing and maintaining a video asset archiving system, including raw footage, b-roll, audio, format conversions and completed project footage
• Monitoring quality control on MC video and works to improve that quality wherever the video originates
• Filming occasional headquarters or locally held events
• Engaging and coordinating outside vendors and content gatherers
• Supporting the organization’s branding efforts, including intimate familiarity with Mercy Corps’ brand guidelines, communicating them to internal clients and educating global users as needed.
• Providing ongoing training of RD and other team members on producing videos, collecting the best b-roll and use of equipment.
• Experimenting with styles and techniques to best capture Mercy Corps’ emerging video brand and marketing goals

Organizational Learning: As part of Mercy Corps’ agency-wide Organizational Learning Initiative, all team members are responsible for spending 5% of their work time in formal and/or non-formal professional learning activities.

Accountability: Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts towards accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications or Film/Photography with knowledge of current and emerging video trends
• Demonstrated success working independently to produce videos from raw elements into successful finished products. Demo reel required.
• Four+ years professional video editing experience, familiarity with fundraising ideal
• Proficiency as a videographer, 2+ years professional experience
• Excellent skills using a Mac-platform with the Adobe Suite including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, After Effects, Final Cut Pro
• Knowledge of video compression and output formats

• Attention to detail and a concern for accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Have an interest in international issues, nonprofit fundraising and brand building

This position is based in Portland, Oregon.

Mercy Corps Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and MC's policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
