Game Changers and History Makers: Women in the Pacific Northwest
63rd Annual Pacific Northwest History Conference
November 3-5, 2010, in Spokane, Washington

The Washington State Historical Society, permanent sponsor of the Pacific Northwest History Conference, along with the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture and the Northwest Oral History Association, invite proposals for sessions, panels, and workshops on the theme of women in the Pacific Northwest. The Pacific Northwest History Conference is a forum for exchange among historians, museum professionals, educators, archivists, historic preservationists, history enthusiasts, and community activists. Proposals from all quarters are strongly encouraged. The conference is an opportunity to share your work and passion with a community of people with similar interests.

The 63rd annual conference commemorates the centennial of Washington women permanently winning the right to vote in 1910; however, proposals are encouraged for all eras and topics related to Northwest women’s history. The anniversary of this momentous development in Washington history offers opportunities to consider women’s influence in the Pacific Northwest in a variety of arenas. Topics might include:

  • Teaching the history of Northwest women
  • Successive waves of feminist history
  • Landmark women’s rights campaigns in the region
  • Gender studies
  • Women’s ethnic history
  • Women’s history collections
  • Women artists and writers
