The Mount Angel Abbey Library entryway will host Agios: A Communion of Saints, an exhibition by the Classical Iconography Institute, from June 13 to August 2, 2026. The show features original icons created by modern artists using the ancient Byzantine style to depict the lives of the saints.
Executive Director Christine Schlesser explains that the exhibit invites viewers to “slow down, look deeply, and consider what shapes a meaningful life, what heals the human heart, and what it means to become more fully human.” The featured works represent months—and often years—of dedicated study in an art form that dates back to the earliest centuries of the Church.
The public is invited to view the exhibition during library hours. A special closing reception, open to the public, will be held on August 2 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The reception is free and open to the public but requires a free registration/ticket at Eventbrite here.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Laurie Muench, Institute Instructor, will offer a live painting demonstration and Fr. Anselm Flores, OSB & Executive Director Christine Thum Schlesser will give a joint presentation during the Abbey’s Saint Benedict Festival.
