We are looking to add an Artist/direct support specialist for our day program for adults with developmental disabilities with Albertina Kerr’s (Print) Making Studio program at Port City. We are seeking a direct support specialist with experience in art. Our ideal candidate will compassionately support the medical, hygienic and food preparation needs of participants with a variety of physical and intellectual abilities, while creating a community atmosphere that supports creative skill building and problem solving.
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of working collaboratively to build agency and autonomy amongst our participants. We are looking for someone who is excited to gently guide the making process through experiment, demonstration and facilitation. We are looking for flexibility, imagination and reliability. We are looking for a self-driven person who takes initiative and wants to work towards positive change. Completing, maintaining and accurately recording mandatory reports and daily paperwork are required. We are looking for someone with grit, drive and inspiration,
An Oregon Driver’s license and the ability to drive
A minimum of two years verifiable driving history/experience
No more than 2 traffic convictions and/or preventable accidents in the past two year period
High school diploma or GED
A criminal background check
The ability to multi-task while being present in the moment
The ability to respond to crisis situations
Paid training includes CPR, First Aid, and Oregon Intervention System training as well as all agencies required trainings.
