Arts Education Program Coordinator

The Arts Education Program Coordinator develops and implements Lane Arts Council’s arts education programs in schools. This staff position works closely with schools, teaching artists, and the general arts community to increase the scope of arts education throughout the county.

Duties & Responsibilities
Program Development and Coordination (50%)
• Oversee and coordinate in-school and after-school arts education programs throughout Lane County
• Serve as the lead contact for scheduling in-school and after-school arts education programs, maintaining timely response to inquiries and persistent follow up.
• Manage over 150 contracts with schools, community partners, and teaching artists.
• Oversee programs to align with school and community need, as well as funder requirements; help develop grant proposals to address community need.
• Manage multiple program budgets, working with Program Director and Finance Coordinator to ensure effective and ethical use of funds.
• Collaborate with community partners to develop, implement, and assess co-coordinated arts education programs and activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Marketing and Reporting (25%)
• Provide content for Lane Arts Council media including news posts, newsletter, social media and press releases.
• Support the development of arts education marketing, mailing, and other communication materials in alignment with the Lane Arts Council brand.
• Oversee the evaluation of arts education programs including formative and summative assessment of programs and teaching artists.
• Document the impact, successes, and needs of arts education programs through reports, testimonials, photos, assessment findings, interviews, etc.
• Support grant writing, grant reporting, and donor stewardship for arts education programs.
• Work with Program Coordinator to maintain the arts education pages of Lane Arts Council’s WordPress website (artist profiles, event and program pages).
• Other duties as assigned.

Outreach and Advocacy (15%)
• Advocate for arts education programs in Lane County schools and school districts.
• Represent Lane Arts Council’s arts education programs in the community, including schools, school districts, service groups, partner organizations, businesses, and governmental agencies.
• In collaboration with Program Director and regional liaisons, deepen partnerships with Lane County schools and community partners in sixteen school districts. This includes traveling to urban and rural schools and building relationships with principals, teachers, parents and district staff/board.
• Improve program quality and scope to better serve Black, Indigenous, and students of Color; LGBTQIA+ students, Migrant students, Multi-Lingual students, and students across the Ability spectrum.
• Partner with local arts education administrative leaders to coordinate regular Arts Education Admin Meet Ups.
• Attend statewide and regional arts education meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Teaching Artist Recruitment & Support (10%)
• Recruit, train, supervise, and maintain communication and professional relationships over 40 Lane Arts Council contracted teaching artists.
• Support teaching artists in the review, development, and improvement of their curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Recruit new teaching artists and mentors, focusing on intentional diversification of the roster in art form, artist identity, experience, and location of residence.
• Other duties as assigned.
