The Opportunity:
The PSU Foundation is currently searching for two Associate Directors of Development due to internal promotions that have occurred on our Development Team. These two positions will be placed in the PSU Arts and for the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science to join our team of highly talented individuals who work together to advance the mission of higher education.
The Associate Director of Development for PSU Arts is a frontline fundraiser for the College of the Arts (COTA), the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at PSU (JSMA), and the PSU art collection. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and securing new and ongoing special and major gifts, planned gifts, corporate support, and foundation grants.
The Associate Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Development (PSU Arts/Units) and provides support for their work around major and principal gifts and PSU Arts development program project management. They work collaboratively with the PSU Arts development team, unit faculty and staff, dean and other university leaders in planning and implementing solicitation strategies that are most beneficial to the advancement of the units.
The Associate Director of Development for the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science is a front-line fundraiser for the college. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and securing new and ongoing special and major gifts, planned gifts, corporate gifts and sponsorships and foundation grants.
The Associate Director reports to the Senior Director of Development for the Maseeh College and provides support for their work around major and principal gifts. The Associate Director of Development will work collaboratively with the Foundation’s fundraising programs and partners including Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Alumni Association, and the Office of Research and Strategic Partnerships.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum four years of relevant fundraising experience including proven success in securing five- and six-figure gifts and grants.
• Extensive experience in prospect cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups including alumni, volunteers, faculty, and staff.
• Demonstrated experience in writing proposals and stewardship reports for donors.
• A strong track record in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Able to travel and work evenings and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency is necessary including experience using MS office applications, Google mail, Google Docs.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree.
• CFRE Certification.
• Familiarity with donor databases.
• Experience with campaign fundraising.

Essential Duties:
• Manage a portfolio of individual, corporate and foundation prospects through all phases of the development process including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; initiate, design, and execute strategies for assigned prospects based on capacity for support, existing relationships with PSU and alignment of University and unit priorities.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase giving from individuals, corporations, and foundations that match the prospects’ interests with the University’s priorities.
• Write, edit, and participate in the development of case statements and proposals.
• Work collaboratively with the University’s fundraising programs and partners including Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Alumni Association, and the Office of Research and Strategic Partnerships.
• Work with the Prospect Management and Research team to identify new prospects; comply with the moves management system; and achieve required metrics.
• Participate in the planning and execution of fundraising and stewardship events including campus visits
• Represent Portland State at university and community events.
• Collaborate with the Director of Development to create and execute the annual plan to achieve fundraising goals for the colleges
• Provide leadership on individualized donor stewardship for donors with capacity of $10,000 to $99,000.
• Write, edit, and produce proposals, proposal budgets, grant applications, case statements, reports, and other development-related narrative materials.
• Develop strong relationships with directors and key faculty members, keep abreast of developments (in the fields, schools, museum, centers, initiatives), ensure strong communication between the faculty and staff of the schools and museum and the appropriate development team.
• Collaborate and liaise with the appropriate development team members to create and execute the annual plan to achieve fundraising goals for the units, as well as provide strategic development planning for the units and their academic and research/scholarship areas.
• Provide briefings, assist in the preparation of proposals, and provide other support for the Assistant Vice President’s work with major and principal gift prospects, as needed.
• Assist with unit donor stewardship and recognition programs and collateral.
• Attend unit events as appropriate and strategic to cultivate and identify donors and stay current with unit programming and stories.
• Other duties as assigned.

Other Essential Information:
• Pay Grade Level: Level Five ($57,382.00 to $74,597 annually depending on experience)
