Position Summary
Bar Staff are part-time, non-exempt, and seasonal (late-August through early July, most years, though subject to change as needed and with the potential for event based need during the off season) positions. Bar Staff work schedule will be mostly evenings and weekends.

Bar Staff work in partnership with the entire front of house team to ensure that all guests, staff, and visitors to The Armory receive exemplary customer service and hospitality. Bar Staff are responsible for the execution of bar services for PCS performances and events. Strict adherence to both food service regulations as prescribed by the Multnomah County Health Department, as well as alcohol service regulations as prescribed by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) are of the utmost importance. We are looking create a team that models equity and anti-racism principles in all interactions, understands accountability, and is open to holding a consistent dialogue on what we can do to better hold space for traditionally marginalized people.

Essential Responsibilities
Modeling efficient and customer focused service is expected of all PCS front of house staff, implementing all PCS and Armory Bar policies and procedures.
Complete administrative tasks as assigned by the Bar Manager or Bar Lead.
Serve high-quality food and beverages at a quick pace to ensure all patrons are seated on time for PCS productions.
Maintain an impeccably clean and presentable work space at all times.
Prioritize efficiency and waste reduction in all areas.
Work closely with other PCS departments as required for special events.
The position requires a commitment to excellence and the ability to work quickly and efficiently while contributing to creating a welcoming and friendly environment for guests and staff alike.
Additional duties as assigned by the Bar Manager or Bar Lead.
Create and maintain a safe environment for both customers and co-workers – including, but not limited to ensuring guests are not over-served
Learn and uphold the PCS IDEA Community Guidelines as relates to all interactions within the broader PCS community.
Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge
Oregon Health Authority Food Handler Card and OLCC Alcohol Service permits are required. Can be obtained or renewed after hire.
The ability to multitask with a sense of urgency and timeliness is essential. Candidates must be able to work efficiently with ease and composure, while projecting confidence and professionalism.
Previous serving / bartending experience in a high volume setting will be considered, but not required.
Candidates must demonstrate an effortless and friendly demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a positive can-do attitude.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to lead oneself with a self-starting attitude.
Exhibit a commitment to an equitable and inclusive workplace, racial equity, accessibility, use of gender-inclusive language, and cultural sensitivity.
A desire to help build a theater experience where all feel welcomed and appreciated.
Ability to build effective working relationships with co-workers.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift a minimum 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
Ability to provide consistent service to patrons during multiple high-volume performances per day.
Shifts are primarily evenings and weekends, with occasional daytime shifts for events as needed.

Salary & Benefits
Starting hourly wage is $14 (+tips, pooled with other bar staff by shift)
