Dreams We Build
April 26 – August 30, 2019
Opening Reception Saturday April 26, 12-2pm
Stephen-Crawford House Museum
603 6th St, Oregon City, OR
Art in Oregon is pleased to present the exhibition Dreams We Build by artists Natalie Wood inside the newly renovated Stephen Crawford House Museum in the historic McLoughlin neighborhood in Oregon City.
“Each image I produce contains real photographs I have captured, blended into dreamscapes and memories. It is my hope that those who view my work can find their own connection between dreaming and waking, desire and memory, and dark and light. It is my goal with each piece to consider the building, statue, or creature as having a voice that can tell me what it dreams about. I want forgotten structures to be reborn into fantastic adventures and sacred spaces to become someone’s favorite sanctuary.” ~ Natalie Wood
The Stevens-Crawford Heritage House is an American Foursquare home built in 1908 by prominent real estate investors Harley Stevens and his wife, Mary Elizabeth. It remained in the family until 1968 when Mertie Stevens passed away, leaving her family home to the Clackamas County Historical Society. The house has been restored to much of its original Edwardian splendor through donations of furnishings and textiles. A visit to the Stevens-Crawford Heritage House will transfer you back to the daily life during the period of invention and innovation of the Progressive Era. The second floor features this unique contemporary art exhibition immersing visitor in a dream-like experience of past and present.
The Stevens-Crawford House annual fundraising plant sale is will also be happening Saturday the 27th from 9am-3pm, so stop by the house to take in the art and pick up some beautiful flowers for your garden all while helping raise money for the Clackamas County Historical Society.
