Gallery Program Administrative Support Specialist – Part-time

The Gallery Program Administrative Support Specialist supports the Walters Cultural Arts Center Programs, Cultural Arts staff, and assists with the coordination of the Walters Cultural Arts Center Gallery and Civic Center Gallery programs, First Tuesday Gallery Openings, and additional arts and culture events. Strong communication, time management, and computer skills are essential with an emphasis on exhibit production and preparation, project planning, and exhibit administration activities and communications.

The ideal candidate should should be highly organized and detail oriented with thorough follow through, possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and enjoy engaging with artists and the public. This position assists with artist calls and communications, logistical support for gallery programs, exhibit preparation, gallery intake, installation and de-installation, financial and administrative tracking, writing press and media releases, customer service, and more.

Hours take place generally on weekdays along with some weekends and evenings, 20 hours per week. This position supports the Walters Cultural Arts Center Programs and reports to the Public Art Program Supervisor.

Acceptable Experience and Training
High School Diploma, GED, studies in Fine Arts, Museum and Gallery Practices, Art Administration, or related field; and
Some previous work experience in a related field; or
Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

• Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
