Installation/Sculpture Assistant(s) Needed
Assistant(s) are needed to help with various aspects of work on a large scale sculpture installation in a 5000 sq ft (40’ high) non-profit industrial space over the coming two months.
The project is the inaugural residency of a new art program in “Building 5,” part of NW Marine Art Works, 2516 NW 29th Ave.
Assistant(s) will be supporting the lead artist in the ongoing building, modification and unbuilding of architectural structures out of salvaged materials, primarily wood. There is no carpentry or power tools involved in this work.
Moving, handling and combining wood strips and carpet core tubes with elastic lashing. Ongoing assembly and disassembly.
Cutting, combining (sewing, pinning), scattering and folding textiles. Ongoing movement and anchoring of textiles.
Cutting bicycle innertubes into “rubber bands.”
Helping with organizing and keeping the jobsite in shape.
Daytime, flexible (to be determined)
20 hours a week through a combination of helpers
