It has been portrayed in mosaics for centuries. Using repeated shapes and flowing lines, the rhythm and strength of the wave is created. Perhaps you can feel this wave coming on now!
In this 3-day workshop, you can choose to cut the glass yourself, or use pre-cut glass (it’s recycled!) to make your own wave, using your own design or research online “mosaic wave.” Rectangular (see below, 12” x 18”) or circular (15”) substrate. Exterior-safe materials include base, glass tiles, mortar, and grout.
Cost: $250 includes tuition, materials, use of necessary tools while in class, a simple lunch each day in the studio, and coffee/tea/light snacks. Necessary tools are provided for use while you are in class, but you are welcome to bring your own mosaic tools. Wheeled nippers (Leponitts) will be available for purchase ($25) if a student wishes to take a pair home. Class is limited to 10 students.
This workshop will be taught by visiting artist/instructor Mark Brody of Portland, OR. Mark has been teaching mosaic in schools and art centers for the past 18 years.
