Paid Lighting Designer/Operator — Dance Show

Deadline August 31, 2026

Date: Friday, September 18, 2026

Location: Fries Auditorium, Washington State School for the Blind, Vancouver, WA

Anticipated call: Approximately 4:00–10:00 PM

Compensation: Paid; please include your day rate or estimated fee

Serenade of the Stars is seeking a lighting designer/operator for a one-night professional dance performance featuring approximately 14 pieces.

The theater has an existing overhead ETC lighting system and DMX infrastructure. We plan to use the house fixtures for the primary white illumination and rent a small supplemental RGBW lighting package to add color, atmosphere, and visual distinction between performances.

The stage is approximately 23′ wide by 15′ deep.

Responsibilities:

Review the existing theater lighting setup

Help confirm the appropriate supplemental RGBW rental package

Assist with setup, patching, focusing, and testing

Create approximately 14 performance looks

Program fades, transitions, and blackouts between pieces

Run the lighting cues during the 90-minute show

Assist with strike after the performance

The lighting design does not need to be highly complex. We are looking for polished, atmospheric looks that support each dance piece while keeping the performers clearly illuminated for the audience, photography, and video.

Experience with ETC systems, DMX-controlled RGBW fixtures, dance, theater, or live performance is preferred.

To apply, please send a brief introduction, relevant experience or portfolio, availability for September 18, and your estimated rate to anna@luberg.me
