Sculpture Project in Newberg

CALL TO ARTISTS

The Newberg Public Art Council (NPAC), in partnership with the Newberg Downtown Coalition, is requesting submissions for 5 high quality sculptures to be displayed for two years. Newberg is a highly visited community in the heart of Oregon Wine Country with visitors from all over the globe.

An honorarium of $1,250 will be provided to each artist selected.

One of the five sculptures selected will be purchased by the (NPAC) for the city’s permanent collection.

Artwork shall be suitable for outdoor public display, weather and vandalism resistant, pedestrian safe, and appropriate for all ages. Artwork must require minimal maintenance, be undamaged and unblemished, and must be fabricated and finished w/non-hazardous materials.

Structural design consideration requires that all sculptures can be mounted safely to a 4’0” x 4’0” concrete base & not exceed a MAX weight of 1,200 LBS. One piece selected must have a height of 2’6” or less, the four remaining pieces have a maximum height of 8’6”.

Artist is responsible for initial delivery and installation, as well as the removal of work after the two year period. Sculptures can be for sale, but must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.

Please submit high quality digital images of finished sculptures and completed application(s) through our online application form. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis until the exhibition is filled, priority consideration will be given to submissions made by August 31st. Artists may submit up to three sculptures to be considered.

Target installation by November 2023. Arrangements will be made with the Public Art Manager. All selected sculptures will be represented on the Newberg Public Art website and have signage.
