ORGANIZATION: The Alberta Abbey Foundation is a non-profit arts and culture center. Offering spaces for artists and creative organizations, diverse program offerings, and partnerships with art organizations and community groups, the Alberta Abbey has created a dynamic and inclusive community dedicated to supporting the arts and their impact on the culture of Portland, Oregon. We have spent the pandemic upgrading systems and are getting ready to relaunch as a new Arts Venue in the NE!

POSITION SUMMARY: The Alberta Abbey is seeking a new leader to join our team as we prepare to re-establish post-COVID as a home and supportive community for the arts in Portland, Oregon. The successful candidate will share an attitude of collegiality and collaboration among a small team as they work together to build a successful venue and service program. The Alberta Abbey is committed to equity so we are especially interested in candidates who bring lived experience to working within an EDI (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) framework. Bar/kitchen management or other applicable experience is a plus. Flexibility is key and the ability to think outside the box!

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Alberta Abbey is seeking someone to spearhead the redesign, development, and management of a bar and kitchen program to serve a performing arts venue. This will be an amazing opportunity for the right person!

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, designing labor structure for front and back of house employees, collaborating on concept design and menu planning (kitchen and bar), budgeting & cost analysis, hiring and training front and back of house staff, as well as participation in physical kitchen and bar upgrades and purchasing. Come make it happen with us!! We hope to open to the public in September, at which time we anticipate busy Friday and Saturday nights, closing down food and drink at 10:00 or 11:00 or earlier.

SALARY: Initial compensation will be based on experience but will generally start around $20 plus tips. Nights and weekend shifts will be the norm to start. After 90 days, the position will transition to Salary plus tips for service shifts. 40 hours paid sick days and 40 hours paid vacation.
