CALL FOR ARTISTS – Women United ART MAGAZINE | Issue IX

Deadline November 10, 2024

Women United ART MAGAZINE is excited to announce a call for artists for Issue IX | Autumn & Winter 2024, curated by Debbie Morton, gallery owner, curator, and art advisor, leading the creative vision of Morton Contemporary Gallery.

Women United ART MAGAZINE stands tall as an international quarterly print and digital publication dedicated to showcasing the brilliance of women in the arts, highlighting extraordinary creatives, inspiring industry leaders and remarkable art organizations.

Selected artists will be able to review their pages before printing. All artists who submit their work will receive a free digital version of the publication.

GUEST CURATOR

Debbie Morton, gallery owner, curator, and art advisor, leads the creative vision of Morton Contemporary Gallery, which operates two locations in the heart of Philadelphia along with its ‘Art Consultancy’ division. Morton Contemporary embodies both an ethical and aesthetic vision, reflecting a deep commitment to equity and inclusion. The gallery represents a dynamic roster of around 35 innovative artists, both emerging and established, from across the globe, with a focus on cutting-edge mixed-media work. Its diverse collection ranges from original paintings on canvas to sculpture, photography, and limited-edition giclées, offering a wide array of contemporary art forms.

Debbie Morton has worked tirelessly to build a creative enterprise that seeks to transcend the mere sale of beautiful art. “I see my gallery as a vehicle for change,” she explains. “First, I am proud to run a woman-owned business, with an all-female staff. Our curation is driven by a focus on equity and inclusion, and we actively work to recruit artists of color and female artists.”

The gallery also champions two critical political causes as part of its mission for change. It has partnered with organizations to combat gun violence, including the renowned Giffords Foundation, and is deeply engaged in advocating for prison reform. This commitment is reflected in the gallery’s recent exhibition, WE ARE ALL DOING TIME, which focuses on the lives of 5 artists who have been severely impacted by America’s crisis of mass incarceration, and the new artist in residency program for incarcerated artists which will launch in 2025.
