Career Opportunity: Teaching Artist

POSITION. The Teaching Artist encourages life-long learning about dance through enriching the lives of children and adults by providing meaningful learning experiences; inspiring all students to move, watch and wonder about dance. The Teaching Artist is an ambassador of Oregon Ballet Theatre’s Education/Community Engagement programs which occur throughout the year as dance residencies in public and private schools; alternative therapeutic classrooms; educationally focused performances in schools or at local theaters; studio tours and lectures; and as experiential events in community venues. The position reports to the Director of Education/Community Engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS: OBT Education and Community Engagement (E/CE) is seeking professional part-time Teaching Artists who are compassionate and energetic to share dance with school partners and the community. An ideal candidate is engaging with students, skilled in classroom management, a clear communicator and positive representative of OBT in the community. E/CE is interested in sharing many forms of dance, a foundation in creative movement and ballet is also desired. Candidates should have a significant desire for community work, have good references, and be willing to teach a sample class as part of the interview process.
