The Oregon Society of Artists is looking for a dynamic, community-focused Executive Director experienced in fundraising to grow our arts education and exhibition programming.

At OSA we believe in the transformative power of the arts; to ignite growth and create a safe space for individuals to express their unique creativity. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director who will champion arts education both in the classroom and in The Gallery, for everyone.
The Executive Director is an innovative leader, responsible for overseeing administration, creating, and implementing fundraising strategies, revenue generation, building community partnerships, strategic plans of the organization and working with the programs & education manger to develop educational and cultural programs.

This role is highly interpersonal. OSA is a tight artists community. The ED is the ‘face’ of OSA.
In addition, you’ll lead our small but mighty team. This requires skills in project management and communication. We juggle many balls at one time. The ability to prioritize the workload, collaborate with team members and hold them accountable, and provide opportunities for professional growth and development is important.

Responsibilities
• Fundraising/Grant Oversight – In collaboration with the Board of Directors, leads fundraising planning, strategies, and execution, including foundation, government, and individual giving. Will oversee grant proposal work and will work with the grant writer in foundation research and ensure participation in grant opportunities.
• Operations – Provides management oversight of building operations, maintenance, and related personnel. Coordinates facility maintenance.
• Strategic Planning – In conjunction with the Board of Directors, develop a strategic plan, and in collaboration with staff and instructors, develop and implement annual goals, action plans, and updates as needed to ensure effective execution and results.
• Advocacy – Serves as chief spokesperson for OSA; enhances the organization’s image by being active and visible in the community and working closely with other educational, professional, civic, and private organizations. Continue to support and grow the scholarship program for underserved students. Establish relationships with individuals and organizations of influence, including funders, partner agencies, and volunteers who can support the expansion of more affordable and accessible programming.
• Program Development and Management – Work with the Education and Programs Manager to develop and implement, a robust schedule of programs and classes that furthers OSA’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
• Fiscal Management – Work with the President and Treasurer of the board to develop the annual budget for Board approval. Oversee the management of all funds, consistent with OSA’s accounting system.
• Marketing and Communications – Oversee marketing and communications programs to increase the visibility of and accessibility to OSA in the wider region and to ensure that donors, families, and the public are informed about the organization’s programs and activities. Ensure consistent branding and messaging in marketing and communications.
• Community Outreach – Ensure a vigorous and engaging community outreach program with overlapping target audiences (veterans, artists, under-resourced, and local community members); develop strategies to address and increase diversity, equity, access, and inclusion (DEAI)
• Staff Leadership and Management – Provide vision, motivation, and professional development for all personnel; hire, supervise, and evaluate staff and contractors; coordinate work of volunteers and contractors. Ensure a positive, healthy work culture, including compliance with all workplace policies and procedures.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3 or more years of nonprofit and/or arts management experience, with a history of success in:
o Fundraising and generating new revenue streams.
o Improving financial results
o Organizational growth
• Experience in facility management.
• Creative and quick problem-solving skills

Working Conditions & Salary:
OSA is located in the Goose Hollow Neighborhood of Portland, OR. Events and programs may require meetings in or visits to other venues or workspaces. Work hours will vary, and the Executive Director will often work evenings and/or weekends to accommodate meetings, classes, or events. Flexibility in hours and part-time remote work are available.
The Executive Director is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with an anticipated annual salary range of between $60,000 – $70,000 with a 401k. Salary decisions are based on a number of factors including qualifications for the role, experience level and skill set.
