Background

I called my gallery imperfecta as I believe that imperfections are what makes humans human – what makes us special and unique. Imperfecta opened its doors in November 2024  – this group show is to celebrate its first birthday and the beauty of imperfect uniqueness.

Who can participate

Any artist wishing to take on this challenge can submit ONE artwork.

ALL submissions must be NEW, ORIGINAL artworks that respond to and take into account all requirements of this brief.

We will not consider artworks out of the scope of the brief or artworks that were created before and not in response to the brief.

Challenge and submission requirements

With this group show you are challenged to explore what IMPERFECTIONS mean to you.

You are free to use any medium and style. HOWEVER, for your piece to be considered you MUST:

Select 1 color and stick with it – we will consider ONLY monochromatic submissions.

  1. Not exceed these maximum dimensions: 33” x 33” x 33”

  2. Include a written piece (max 300 words) that tells the story of what imperfections mean to you and the story of your piece.

  3. Include the artwork’s title and retail price (note that if sold the gallery will keep 50%)

  4. Include the artwork size and a list of materials – be more specific than “mixed media”.

  5. Include 3-5 good quality images of the artwork (this is what will be used to select pieces so ensure the images are good quality.

  6. Add any relevant care instruction for the artwork.

Display requirement

[framed artworks] Position the hanging string so that the artwork does not tilt – usually a string ~2 inches lower than the top border works well. No saw tooth hangers.

[artdolls] To avoid tilting, ensure that the hoop is not too low (especially if top heavy).
