Unique Creative Space Opportunity for Arts Organization

Deadline September 30, 2024

Over the last 20 years, the City of Hillsboro has prioritized initiatives to support Downtown Hillsboro’s revitalization. The arts have been an integral part of the strategy to support a vibrant, connected, welcoming community — and a thriving local economy.

Earlier this year, a legacy arts organization — Sequoia Gallery + Studios — made the difficult decision to dissolve. Following Sequoia’s decision, the transition created an opportunity to celebrate Sequoia’s members and volunteers, and their important contributions to the arts community and fabric of Downtown Hillsboro.

To honor and build upon this legacy of impact, the City is inviting organizations to help shape the next chapter of the Terrace Plaza Building as a home for creativity, community connection, entrepreneurship, and collaboration.

Request for Applications for Commercial Building Lease

The City is requesting applications to sublease a unique creative space to an organization that can become an active participant in the arts and small business community in Hillsboro.

The sub-lease is part of the Terrace Plaza Building located at 136 SE 3rd Avenue, Hillsboro, OR 97123.

The facility includes:

  • 13 individual artist/maker studios
  • Ground floor galley/retail space
  • One large classroom/meeting space
  • Accessibility elevator
  • Kitchen space

Two additional businesses — a bookstore and a hair/nail salon — occupy the same building.

Investments in opportunities for artists and makers remains a priority for the revitalization of Downtown. The City wishes to support a diverse, creative community while providing opportunities for artists, makers, and creative entrepreneurs to practice their crafts and grow their careers.

The City is eager to receive applications from an arts organization, or entity, that can contribute to the vitality and creativity of Hillsboro’s Downtown, Cultural Arts District, and community at large. Applications are open Friday, August 2 to Monday, September 30, 2024.
