The Multnomah Arts Center (MAC) in Portland OR has two group shows scheduled for April 2025 and is seeking work by LGBTQIA2S+ artists who live in or whose tribal lands are in Oregon or SW Washington. March 7th is the deadline to apply for these two Calls.
“Shift Work: Queer Artists in Tectonic Times” will be in the Center Gallery at MAC. This show is about recognizing the shifting social and political landscape beneath our feet and finding ways to relate and create community despite it. As part of this exhibition, we are creating a large installation called “We Take Care of Us.” Please send us up to three images that communicate what you’re feeling, or feeling for, right now. There is a power to witnessing and being witnessed. This installation is an invitation to connect to it, and each other. We’ll print your images as 5-inch square photographs and install them all together on a large wall in the gallery. Click here or go to www.multnomahartscenter.org for more information and to apply to this Call.
“Holding Our Own: Works by LGBTQIA2S+ Ceramic Artists & Potters” will be in the Front Gallery at MAC, and is about our collective capacity to hold space, hold the line, hold each other and hold on to hope in these rapidly shifting times. Do you have vessels or sculptures that speak to this? Simple or elaborate, please share them with us. Click here or go to www.multnomahartscenter.org for more information and to apply.
Curators for these exhibitions are Pablo V. Cazares, Lux Harris and Megan Hatch. Please call MAC at 503-823-2787 or email gallery@multnomahartscenter.org with any questions.
