Gallery 114 is committed to recruiting artist members who represent a broad diversity of the greater community of artists. Our purpose is to provide our artists the opportunity to create and exhibit largely free of commercial considerations, thereby affording them an exceptionally high degree of artistic freedom and exposing the Oregon public to art that might otherwise never be exhibited. Come join our artists!

Member Benefits: Solo or two-person exhibition every 18-20 months, inclusion in annual group exhibition, Art Talk sessions, complete curatorial control during your scheduled exhibition, connection with broader community of artists and art lovers, and a non-exclusive membership (we encourage our artists to exhibit work in other local and national venues).

Member requirements: Pay a one-time $150 initiation fee, agree to terms of gallery operating agreement, pay monthly dues of $100, serve as host for 2.5 hours, two/three times a month during gallery hours (varies depending on number of artists), participate in gallery committees, contribute talent, skills and experience to gallery operations, meet monthly to discuss gallery business, be current with Covid vaccinations. Membership works best for artists who live in the greater Portland metropolitan area.

• WRITE TO US AND TELL US WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN GALLERY 114: Do you have special skills you would like to share with us or have us share with you? For example, how do you imagine contributing to the workings of a cooperative gallery: by learning the mechanics of installing an exhibit? By finding out what is entailed in publicizing your show? Or learning how an artist goes about creating the graphics for an exhibit.

• SUPPLY US WITH A RESUME, i.e., a list of your artistic accomplishments so far; your education in artmaking (if applicable), or art show experience of any kind: greeter, installer, or exhibitor.

• SHARE YOUR PERSONAL THOUGHTS ABOUT YOUR OWN WORK in the form of a statement about what you are striving to express with your work.

• SEND US FIVE TO TEN PHOTOGRAPHS OF YOUR WORK: the best format is JPEG. Shoot the work directly on preferably without glass and unframed, utilizing a soft bright light, avoiding shadows. 72 dpi is a common iPhone setting, and you will have to do minimal editing, if at all. Please add a list of each piece: title, medium, size and year you created it.​
