Production Manager

Deadline April 07, 2025

The Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx) at Oregon State University is seeking a Production Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Production Manager is responsible for the implementational logistics of all events in PRAx. The Production Manager creates the staffing/call schedule for each event, and is expected to manage implementation to achieve exceptional production values while ensuring efficiency across the organization. The Production Manager acts as the primary representative of PRAx in advance meetings with professional artists, partner presenting organizations, faculty ensemble leaders, and student groups, as well as with internal staff managing rental events or similar functions. (As time and capacity allow, the Production Manager may delegate advance meetings, particularly for the Student Arts Season, to the Assistant Production Manager.) The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that technical riders are fulfilled, and is expected to arrange backline and the transportation of equipment as needed. Under the direction of the Managing Director, the Production Manager is the primary individual who assures that all technical work and venue preparation associated with performances is completed on-time and in a way that maximizes the creative use of the facility and responds to emerging best practices and developments in the fields of technical theater, venue management, and arts production.
PRAX maintains a very rapid production schedule (over 160 events/year). The Production Manager will participate in the hands-on production of events for high-value or complex events, particularly those in the PRAx Presents series (~25 events/year). As a condition of being able to schedule and coordinate the work, this position requires an in-depth knowledge of AV and audio mixing, lighting, stagecraft, projection, and other production skills.
