In the heart of Portland, a city shaped by forests and freeways, rivers and rising skylines, our exhibition: Urban Canvas of Portland brings together two powerful voices: Soulaimen Aboubacar and Joy Kolman. Their works explore the evolving dialogue between humanity, community, and nature within the urban landscape.
Soulaimen Aboubacar’s Faces of the City delves into the psychological and spiritual imprint of modern metropolises. His haunting portraits emerge from futuristic cityscapes where neon reflections blur the boundaries between human and machine. These faces—marked by yearning, defiance, and ambiguity—invite us to confront the tension between hyperconnectivity and solitude. In contrast, Joy Kloman offers a quiet resistance. Her origami-inspired paintings provide a serene counterpoint—an imaginative fusion of nature and architecture.
