Ivan Salcido is the 2D Curator and Collections Manager at the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC), where he helps oversee artworks displayed throughout Portland city and Multnomah County buildings, as well as two secured art storage spaces. He curates, coordinates, and installs works from the Portable Works and Visual Chronicle collections; manages acquisitions, commissions, and mural projects; and supports the preservation of permanently sited public art. His work involves collaboration with artists, fabricators, technical specialists, project teams, and community stakeholders to care for and expand the collections.
With more than a decade of experience in art handling and collections management, Ivan has worked with the Portland Art Museum and local galleries, and previously served as a part-time assistant professor in the Foundations Department at the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA).
In addition to his curatorial and collections work, Ivan is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice includes sculpture, painting, printmaking, and installation. Originally from El Paso, he earned an MFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio. His work draws from personal experience, family history, Mesoamerican mythology, and collectible culture.
