Ivan Salcido is the 2D Curator and Collections Manager at the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC), helping oversee a collection of 3,000+ objects displayed throughout Portland's City and Multnomah County buildings. He curates, coordinates, and installs artworks from the Portables and Visual Chronicle Collections, and works on the preservation of permanently sited public art. With extensive experience in fine art collection management, Ivan collaborates with artists, creative professionals, technical experts, project teams, and community stakeholders to care for and expand the collections.
With over a decade of art-handling expertise, Ivan has worked at the Portland Art Museum and local galleries, and served as a part-time assistant professor in the Foundations Department at the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA).
In addition to his arts administration work, Ivan is a multidisciplinary artist. Originally from El Paso, TX, he holds an MFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio. His artistic practice encompasses sculpture, painting, printmaking, and installations, drawing inspiration from personal experience, family history, Mesoamerican mythologies, and collectible objects.
